Williams runners win

GREENSBORO - Cory Batts had a time of 21 minutes, 14 seconds across a 3.1-mile course to lead the Williams High School boys' cross country team past Northern Guilford and Eastern Guilford on Thursday at Northeast Park.

    The Bulldogs had a team score of 28, while Northern Guilford (52) and Eastern Guilford (59) rounded out the top three.

    On the girls' side, Rose Buchanan finished in 21:49 and Williams had a team score of 20 as the Bulldogs claimed the victory. Northern Guilford (42) and Eastern Guilford (75) were next.

  --  WESTERN ALAMANCE CLAIMS BOYS' VICTORY: At Elon, John Pratt led Western Alamance past Reidsville by clocking in at 18:01. Pratt led a top 10 comprised of nine Western Alamance runners. The Warriors had a team score of 15, while Reidsville didn't register a team score due to its lack of runners.

    On the girls' side, Reidsville notched a winning team score of 15. The Warriors didn't have enough team members to comprise a score. Kira Letvak ran to a time of 22:22 for Western Alamance.

   -- JORDAN-MATTHEWS SWEEPS TRI-MEET: At Siler City, Ernesto Torres had a time of 20:43 to lead Jordan-Matthews past Providence Grove and River Mill. The Jets had a team score of 30, with Providence Grove (34) and River Mill (91) completing the top three. Evan Boucher finished in 24:56 for River Mill.

    In the girls' portion, Jordan-Matthews finished with a 22, while River Mill (58) and Providence Grove (77) rounded out the top three. Amber Miller finished second for River Mill in 25:07.
