River Mill girls join Elon School with win
Comments 0 | Recommend 0At Greensboro, Taylor Dawson hit three 3-pointers, scored 25 points, dished three assists and grabbed four rebounds to lead The Elon School past New Garden Friends 44-20 in the season opener for both schools.
The Elon School (1-0) jumped out to a 25-9 halftime lead and never looked back in benefiting from the all-around play of Dawson, Adrienne Madarasz (10 rebounds, four blocks) and Kelsey Cathey (six points, three steals).
-- RIVER MILL 77, CHATHAM CENTRAL 36: At Bear Creek, River Mill placed four players in double-figure scoring in a non-conference victory.
Alison Cousin scored 14 points to go with five steals; Amber Miller had 13 to surpass 1,000 career points; Jackie Lyles added 12; and Jada Alvarado chipped in 10 for the Jaguars (6-0). Alvarado also had six steals to become River Mill's all-time steals leader with 502.
