Williams, Western Alamance cruise in girls' tennis

Helen Powell blanked Brianna Lewis 8-0 at No. 2 singles as Williams defeated visiting Eastern Guilford 9-0 in a non-conference match at Burlington Tennis Center.

    Carolyn Kernodle, Adele Henderson, Christine Deal, Conner Rosenow and Lucy Stadler also posted 8-0 singles victories for the Bulldogs (5-1). Rosenow and Jordan Allred defeated Lewis and LeeAnna Robertson 8-6 at No. 1 doubles for Williams.

  --  WESTERN ALAMANCE 9, GREENSBORO DUDLEY 0: At Elon, Rachel Pennington beat Britney Williams 10-5 at No. 1 singles as Western Alamance defeated visiting Greensboro Dudley in a Triad Conference match.

    Rebecca Goodwin, Rebecca Fogleman, McKenzie Owen, Raleigh McCoy and Kristin Rafael also notched singles victories for the Warriors (5-2, 4-1). Greensboro Dudley fell to 1-3 in Triad Conference play.

   -- CARDINAL GIBBONS 9, GRAHAM 0: At Graham, Meredith Masteller dropped Shelby Hall 8-0 at No. 1 singles to lead visiting Cardinal Gibbons past Graham in a Mid-State 2-A Conference match. Rachel Lynch-Daniels defeated Kacie Tickle 8-0 at No. 2 singles for the Crusaders (5-2, 4-0). The Red Devils fell to 0-5, 0-5.
