River Mill, Graham, Williams win

MT. HERMON - Alison Cousin scored a game-high 22 points and had five assists as visiting River Mill throttled Southern Alamance 71-50 in a nonconference girls' basketball game Tuesday night.

    Jada Alvarado scored six points for the Jaguars to become the second player this season to break the 1,000 point barrier for their career. Alvarado added 15 rebounds, six assists and four steals for River Mill (10-1).

    Meredith Kelly scored 20 points for the Patriots (1-1).

    GRAHAM 80, CARRBORO 33: At Graham, three players scored in double figures as Graham dismantled visiting Carrboro in a Mid-State 2-A Conference game. Beth Miller supplied 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and six steals for Graham in its season opener. Kiki Allen added 15 points for the Red Devils.

    WILLIAMS 47, GREENSBORO DAY SCHOOL 36: At Greensboro, Adele Henderson scored a game-high 26 points, and hit a school record four 3-pointers to lead visiting Williams past Greensboro Day School.

    Ebonie Bryant and Jaylaa Stewart added eight points each for the Bulldogs (2-1).

    ORANGE 46, CUMMINGS 40: Cummings went 3-for-12 on free throws in the fourth quarter and was unable to hold a narrow lead in the Mid-State 2-A Conference game. The host Cavaliers were 7-for-29 for the game on foul shots. Shae Mebane scored 14 points for the Cavaliers, who were playing their opener. Orange is 3-0, 1-0.

    GRACE CHRISTIAN 56, ALAMANCE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 42: At Pittsboro, Faith Simson had 10 points as Grace Christian defeated visiting Alamance Christian School in a NCCSA Conference game. Michelle Thomas scored a gamehigh 23 points and had seven rebounds for the Warriors (1-4, 0-1).

    SALEM ACADEMY 29, THE ELON SCHOOL 18: At Winston-Salem, Olivia Lewis scored 11 points to lead Salem Academy. Taylor Dawson had a 14 points for The Elon School (2-1).
