Elon School, River Mill pick up victories

GREENSBORO - Collin Smith poured in 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead The Elon School to a 67-36 victory against New Garden Friends in the season opener for the Commodores in boys' basketball Monday.

Ryan Daye scored 16 3- the points pointers including for two Commodores (1-0) while teammate Jacob Brandewie grabbed 13 rebounds.

    The Elon School led at halftime 33-11.

-- RIVER MILL 62, CHATHAM CENTRAL 52: At Bear Creek, River Mill outscored Chatham Central 24-9 in the final quarter to rally from five points down and win the non-conference game. Tyler Jeffries (15 points), Malachi Neal (10) and Jamaul Vinson (10) paced the Jaguars (3-3).
